More about the Peasant and Indigenous Press Forum Initiative: hosted by A Growing Culture, this initiative is a collaboration of journalists and grassroots groups — working to bridge these two communities together. We support storytellers in accessing sources on the frontlines of food, environmental and climate issues. Despite the work of these frontline communities — their stories and perspectives are often underreported, silenced or undervalued in attempts to address the world’s most pressing issues.
Indigenous, peasant and smallholder farmer communities feed the majority of the world and sustain 80% of the world’s biodiversity. They hold the wisdom of how to relate to land and grow food in ways that address hunger, protect culture, guarantee livelihoods, and sustain biodiversity.
We invite you to connect with peasant, Indigenous and grassroots communities and their stories by joining in this initiative.
The initiative includes: bi-monthly Press Forums/Workshops, the Grassroots Stories and Sources Database, and a Signal Group for emergent frontline news (please reach josh@agrowingculture.org for more info).
